Brazil Vs Croatia !

Brazil open the 2014 World Cup in their biggest city, Sao Paulo, at the brand new Corinthians Arena in what should be a great start to the tournament.

These teams met in Germany at the 2006 World Cup, where Brazil won 1-0, but this will be a much more pressured environment, as the hosts will be expected to dispose of what are seen as inferior opposition in the Croatians. They are no a push-overs, though.

Croatia qualified with five wins in its ten qualifiers, scoring just 12 but only conceding 9. They were runners-up in their group behind Belgium by some distance, after a horrible finish to the campaign where they failed to win any of their last four games (including two losses to lowly Scotland).

Add to this the fact that Croatia hasn't made it past the first round since their first World Cup in 1998, and it does look like Brazil will cruise past them.

Brazil looked superb in winning the 2013 Confederations Cup at home, winning all five matches, including some rousing victories over Italy, Spain, and Uruguay. Add to this seven straight wins in friendlies, and it looks even tougher for the Croatians.

An early goal for the hosts here could well see a 3-0 or 4-0 scoreline, and a real warning shot to the rest of the teams on day one.
